Gravity Heights

Gravity Heights is a full service restaurant and brewery opened in 2019 by an existing San Diego restaurant group. Sorrento Mesa is their sole location.

The Beer

The Big Board

Number of Taps

  • 15 (including a hard cider and kombucha tap)
  • 54% of beer taps with IPAs

Signature Beer

  • June Gloom Hazy IPA. Gravity Heights doesn’t have a long history, but this one has been brewed from nearly the start and is their one canned beer. It’s an easy-drinking beer that pours hazy but tastes clean.

What’s the Best Thing Ya Got?

  • I was recommended the Score Some Nectaron and Daybreak. Both of these were easy on the palate and of no offense to anyone. The Braxator Imperial Stout is their one stout, and worth sampling for the dry roast on the tongue followed by a sweet caramel aftertaste.

For the Couch

  • Gravity Heights offers 32 oz crowlers for $10 and 64 oz growler fills. They also sell June Gloom Hazy IPA in 4-pack cans.

The Space

Gravity Heights has a mix of indoor seating for restaurant service, a tented room with large and small restaurant tables with space heaters, and a large outdoor deck area with some space heaters and shade.

Gravity Heights also has a full bar with liquor and a variety of wines available by the glass.

Indoor Capacity

  • Seating for about 50 indoors and space for about 60 more at tables inside a single tent
Tented and outdoor space from the bar

Outdoor space

  • Space for 100+ on a deck, including 26 stools at an open-air bar, 10 picnic tables, and additional couch and high-top seating around multiple fire pits. Shade and sun.

Food service

  • Full restaurant service with a mix of fancy and bar foods, from pork chops, seafood pasta, and mezze plates, to burgers, pizza, and fish tacos, to fusions like a chicken tikka masala pot pie. They also have a happy hour menu with exclusive items such as oysters, hush puppies, bone marrow, and bacon-wrapped dates. Just be warned that in the heart of Sorrento Mesa, the prices run higher. For example, the chicken wings are $16.50.

Exit Through Gift Shop

  • Gravity Heights has T-shirts for sale. You can see them arrayed on the wall leading to the bathroom.

The Scene

Entertainment

  • The outdoor area has music at a low volume. The bar area has nine televisions above it tuned to sports.

Fun and Games

  • While you won’t see anything downstairs, there’s a room upstairs that can presumably be rented out for private parties but is otherwise open to the public. This room has its own bar, a bar shuffleboard table, and a cabinet video game entitled Gravity Heights II.

Babies and Bowsers

  • As a restaurant, children are welcome. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck.
